tell me, do you do this ??????
.........save all kinds of sewing snippets, pieces of fabric.....things you can not bear to throw away..........when I buy fabric that I really love, I use to have a hard time even taking the scissors to it.....well I have progressed, how else can I complete a project?????? now I save the selvage edge, where the name of the fabric designer and maker are located..........isn't it funny what little things bring a smile to a crafter's face..........I also collect, pin cushions, thimbles, tape measures, scissors, buttons, sock darners, rug hooking tools, and the list goes on.........thanks mom, for the talents I inherited from you and all the wonderful things you taught me........till next time....remember me, Linda

just what I needed..............
............thank you Jill Peterson for creating this wonderful magazine/book...."A Simple Life".....this has to be one of the finest publications..........glorious pictures, interesting stories to read, recipes, history........the quality of the paper is wonderful !!!!!! this is a quality publication in every way........and so welcomed when I find it in my mail box..........and this is how much the experience of reading a good book or magazine is for me.....first the house is quiet, I light a candle (yes, I know, kinda silly, but it is part of the setting), take a nice hot bath, get my cozy pj's on, and drink of choice (probably Ocean Spray Blueberry tonight) and get lost in, a simple life........till next time.....remember me, Linda

for the love of a horse............
bedfore you read my post, I forgot to mention that all these pictures were taken early Sunday moring, on Saturday, race day, there were 30,000 people there !!!!!! and, the 3 little girls in the last picture, are 3 or my 5 grands !!!! and they are GRAND !!!
...........we spent Saturday in the beautiful state of Kentucky, in Lexington, at the the Keeneland race track.........and you might think this is the place to go if you are a gambler, think again..........this is one of the oldest and most beautiful race tracks in the United States.........the grounds are immaculate, with mature trees, boxwood hedges, planters with flowers and more boxwood's, stone walls, wood fences, green and white buntings adorn the buildings, old concrete lawn jockeys, gift shops, good food, and CLEAN, with the BEST southern hospitality !!!!!! and the HORSES....they are just beautiful, so well taken care of........then comes the excitement of the race.....and something I enjoy almost as much as the racing, is going to the track in the early morning hours....there are the horses being exercised......not too many people are out this early, it is quiet, then you will see a horse galloping as fast as it can.......the sounds of hooves and snorting is just something to experience........all the pictures are from Keeneland, so enjoy.........till next time....remember me, Linda

new home for kitty's........
..........my litter of cats keep growing, I love to make these..........and I finally found them a "new" home.............this old red shelf..........looks like a man had made it for his garage or barn........you can still see the rings from cans sitting on it, chipped paint, and the hook to hang it from is a fence"staple"........love it.......and I think my cats like it too..........I tend not to change big things around my house, like couches, chairs etc...........but, just changing around smalls and adding something new once in awhile is fun for me..........the sampler in the lower right side, with the cross bar frame, I just finished also.........so far now, my corner is complete........time to start another hooking project, something Christmas I think............I am off to dig into my wools, the take the kids for a ride in the woods..........till next time..........remember me, Linda

birds of a feather.........
...........flock together...........I had a free day yesterday, and had a few of my friends over for some rug hooking/sewing, lunch, and just good friendship........does the heart and soul good.........also, here is a picture of my little flock of cloth birds and nests (I only take what is fallen).......and while taking a walk the other day, I found this little, tiny blue feather........a simple treasure..........till next time.....remember me, Linda

still some love left.............
.........I can't hardly turn away from an old quilt.......this one is so tattered, but had all the right colors and charm......the front a simple red, white and blue blocks and the back is an old green army blanket......nothing in between........the army blanket just compliments the quilt top, so I brought it home and hung it in the sunshine......it will live on a while longer, now folded and displayed on an old chair.........till next time.......remember me, Linda

my plate is full & Thank You !!!!
.....first of all, I want to thank Karen from www.mycolonialhome.blogspot.com for being one of her 3 winners, on her "name your blog" contest.....thanks so much !!!!!
......I also wanted to share with you my plate full of buttons, I went to a yard sale on Saturday and bought several ironstone dishes and was getting ready to leave......but, decided to take a quick look at another table, and there was these 3 strands of white buttons, I quickly grabbed them, knowing you can't never have too many buttons..........and they were priced right.........I counted one of the shortest strands, 325 buttons!!!! now, I am pondering what to do with them....obviously someone took their time to string them all up with heavy white string/thread, and put a cafe ring on each end.......I can just picture a woman who loves to sew doing this.......I love to touch and look at them, the different shades of white are just beautiful..........any thoughts ???? till next time, remember me, Linda
