memories in a jar..............
..........hello my friends.........this time of year when the days grow shorter, I like to keep some lamps on for some soft light........always more cozy and inviting...........this little lamp I made using an old Ball jar and filled it with mostly light colored buttons.......very few pure white............some are ivory, tan, or gray........broken, threads in tact, and some still attached to tiny bit of fabric from it's first life...........makes for a more interesting mix........a lot of these buttons were from my mom's button tin.......others were from my collection..........I remember when I was as young as 8 years old saving buttons..........pretty reds, yellows, greens and blues.........now I love them all.......buttons remind me of my mom.........that will be a post for another day, because once I start I could write a book.........but, anyway, the humble button gives me much pleasure and happy memories.........till next time.....remember me, Linda

Hello Linda, Just found your blog and I am delighted to become a follower. I, too, love old buttons.
ReplyDeleteWhen my children were little and living in Michigan, I found this terrific little book. It is called "Stories from Grandma's Attic". It takes place in the midwest back in the early 1900s. Such wonderful stories...one is about a button basket. The author went on to write more books, but this one was my favorite and the kids' favorite. Check it out. Oldmommy
Love it! I have old buttons from my mom and grandma too..I see a lamp coming..smile..I really love your Remember When Farm sampler, it looks great there behind the lamp! Blessings..Lori
